Course Curriculum

In module one, we will explore key safeguarding legislation, including the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. It also covers the role and duties of Safeguarding Adult Boards. 

In module two, we will learn more about local safeguarding boards and the responsibilities of the Welfare Officer. It includes key topics such as safeguarding policy and the duties of Local Authority Designated Officer. 

In module three, we will learn about the different types of abuse that adults can face, and how to identify the signs of abuse in adults. It also discussed how to take action when someone is being abused.

In module four, we will gain a deeper understanding of the procedures that must be carried out once information has been disclosed or abuse has been identified. It also covers guidance for assessing if a child is a risk of abuse.

In module five, we will take a look at the different ways in which to communicate in a care setting. It covers both verbal and nonverbal communication techniques, written communication, and barriers to communication.

In module six, we will learn more about disclosure and what to do when a victim discloses. It also discusses the legal responsibilities of the care provider, with guidance on what, when and how to report.

In module seven, we will develop our understanding of how concerns are raised, taking a look at confidentiality guidelines and the seven golden rules for sharing information. 

In module eight, we will learn about record-keeping procedures, with guidance on what, when and how to record. It explores the storing and sharing of information, data protection, and policy.

In module nine, we will explore the Court of Protection, the Mental Capacity Tribunal, and the Public Guardian, covering topics such as transparency and mediation.

In module ten, we will take an in-depth look at the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Procedure, best interest principles, and the basic principles of DoLs. It discusses responsibility for applying the safeguards and when an application should be made.

In module eleven, we will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Liberty Protection Safeguards, covering the key differences between the Liberty Protection Safeguards and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

In module twelve, we will explore the use of the MCA and DoLS in a pandemic, with training on how to deliver life-saving treatment. It also includes important information on COVID-19 and the role of emergency public health powers.
