This Maternity Care Assistant course is designed for Maternity Care Assistants, Midwives, Maternity Nurses, Maternity Support Workers, Neonatal Nurses, and Medical Staff.

We will start the course by introducing you to what maternity care is, the importance of maternity care, the roles and responsibilities of a Maternity Care Assistant, how a Maternity Care Assistant is different from a Midwife, the terminology for Maternity Care Assistant and how it is as a career option. We will then ensure you are clear with Anatomy, Physiology, Antenatal Care, Intrapartum Care, Postnatal Care, newborn infections, newborn immunity, the signs and symptoms of infections in newborn and how to prevent them.

Apart from these, you will also learn about the importance of nutrition and breastfeeding for a baby and how you can build strong parent-infant relationships. The care a woman needs in the third stage of labour is crucial, so we designed a module that focuses explicitly on it.
