Course Curriculum

In module one, we will learn about the course tutor and their professional background in this field. It also covers the history and development of forensic psychology in detail.

In module two, we will explore various ways of researching in the field of forensic psychology, including the critical evaluation of psychological research, research design and methodology.

In module three, we will explore the theories of criminal behaviour, including sexual offending, violent offending and fire-setting behaviour.

In module four, we will take an in-depth look at the personal characteristics of criminals, learning about their common traits, as well as the different types of offenders.

In module five, we will learn how forensic psychology can be applied in police investigations, and how to support these investigations through criminal profiling.

In module six, we will explore courtroom psychology, taking a look at eye witness and expert witness testimonies. It also covers the problems with eye witness testimonies in terms of reliability.

In module seven, we will explore how interventions work to reduce reoffending, as well as the key components of incident and forensic management.
