Diploma in Phonics Teaching Level 5

In module 1, we will take an in-depth look at phonemes, technical terms, and methods for keeping lessons interactive and engaging. It covers letters and sounds, and the responsibilities of a phonics teacher.

In module three, we will explore the career of a phonics teacher, with an overview of career responsibilities, choices, earning potential and options in this field. 

In module four, we will deepen our understanding of how phonics is taught, and how phonics lessons should be structured. It covers popular techniques for developing high-frequency and decodable word knowledge.

In module five we will learn about Jolly phonics and the five skills of Jolly Phonics. It explores ways to increase phonemic awareness, letter formation, blending and segmenting, menu board activities, and other key teaching strategies.

In module six, we will take a look at the key principles that underpin work with parents, and how to promote engagement. It also covers the importance of teaching children phonics at home.

In module seven we will deepen our knowledge of the phonology of English, exploring ways to build phonological awareness and important information on the development of phonology.

In module eight, we will learn how to test reading ability through phonics assessments. It also covers class and individual achievement records, and strategies for keeping track of teaching.

In module nine,  we will gain a comprehensive understanding of the different types of readers, how to overcome phonetic problems, techniques for developing fluency, and the principles of intervention instruction.
