In this introductory module, we will learn about the role and responsibilities of a sports first aider and explore the topics that will be discussed in this course.
In module two, we’ll learn how to conduct a primary and secondary survey to assess the condition of a casualty. It covers key topics such as full body examination, symptoms, monitoring vital signs, disability and medical history.
In module three, we will explore life-saving first aid procedures, with step-by-step guidance on CPR and chest compressions, and how to place someone in the resting position.
Module four provides a detailed overview of common minor sports injuries, such as sprains and black eyes, with essential information on their treatment and recovery.
Module five provides a detailed overview of major sports injuries, such as head inquiries and concussion, with essential information on their treatment and recovery.
Module six takes a look at environmental injuries, such as climatic injuries like frostbite, with essential information on their treatment and recovery.
In module seven, we will learn what constitutes a medical emergency, with guidance on what to do if a person is suffering from a heart attack, stroke, asthma attack and other life-threatening emergencies.
In module eight, we will learn about best practice procedures you need to keep in mind when providing first aid, such as removing clothing and headgear safely. It also includes essential information on permission and consent.
